Alicoco : Twice a year, Nyons, a town located in Provence in the south of France (See map below) celebrates the olive tree, tree of life and symbol of peace. The alicoque is the feast ofolive oil news. The first Sunday in February, at the end of the harvest, is the moment when the new oil begins to flow from the mills. The Brotherhood of the Knights of the Olive Tree invites olive growers and the entire population to taste it. Large tables are set on the Place des Arcades. The folk groups warm the assembly… the sun vibrates above the bare plane trees… the fifes awaken popular songs.
