Desuetude: nf (word coming from the Latin desuetudo).
The word “disuse” designates the abandonment into which something has fallen that has long since ceased to be used (especially in the expression falling into disuse).
Quotation from the French writer Honoré de Balzac (1799-1850): “a law that has fallen into disuse, but whose observance persisted in the provinces where everything is slowly being abolished”.
Especially (business): obsolescence.
