Karkadé: The karkadé is in Egypt what is commonly called "hibiscus". These are dried hibiscus flowers which are used to make an infusion, but it can also be eaten iced as in Senegal where it is called bissap. Different flavors are often added (mint, pineapple, orange blossom water, etc.) which remove the acidity and enhance the somewhat bland taste of hibiscus.
