Theophylline: Theophylline is a methylxanthine alkaloid. It is 1,3-dimethyl xanthine. It is, along with other alkaloids such as caffeine or theobromine, one of the main active substances in tea leaves, from which it takes its name. It is also present in coffee, chocolate, maté and guarana, among others.
It acts as a diuretic, as a psychostimulant, as a bronchodilator and as a lipolytic agent.
