Sip: v.tr. To sip is to put a cake of leavened dough (baba, savarin especially) to soak in a hot syrup or to sprinkle it several times until it is completely impregnated (we also say "to sip").
Syruping also consists of pouring syrup in a small trickle on a layer of sponge cake or biscuit to soak it lightly, flavor it and make it soft before garnishing it....
