Oligosaccharides: Oligosaccharides (anglicism), also called oligoholoside or oligosides, are oligomers formed from a number n of oses (monosaccharides) by alpha or beta glycoside bond. By convention the number n varies from 2 to 102. There, they are placed between the simple oses (n=1) and the polyosides (polysaccharides) (n>10). However, this limit of 10 units is not completely fixed and polyosides with a degree of polymerization of 11 to 25 are often assimilated to them.
