Lung: nm (word from the Latin pulmo, onis).
The word “lung” has several meanings:
1. Aged sense: Viscus formed by the two lungs or “lobes”.
Quote from the French playwright and comedian Molière (1622-1673): “You are ill from the lungs”.
2. Modern meaning:. Each of the two viscera housed symmetrically in the rib cage, organs of respiration where gas exchange takes place (expiration, inspiration; pneum(o)-).
