Bamboche : nf Wedding, debauchery.
The word "bamboche" comes from the Italian nickname Bamboccio which means "puppet", translated into French by Bamboche given to the Italian painter in the XNUMXth century Pierre de Laer. He received this nickname either because it was hideous and counterfeit, or because it represented so-called burlesque scenes. bambociate (in French, bambochades).
His favorite subjects were the drinking bouts and the fights that followed. Hence the easy passage to the meaning of debauchery.
Bamboocher, dabbling (party animal, reveler, viveur), are the natural derivatives of bamboche to designate the action of making bamboches and the one who indulges in it.
