Hukarei (turnip): The Hukarei turnip is a Japanese turnip, a biennial herbaceous plant of the Brassicaceae family (Botanical name: Brassica rapa). This turnip has an excellent sweet and mild flavor that makes it a favorite salad ingredient in Japan.
