Dracena: The dracena is a genus of plants of the Asparagaceae family (Botanical name: Dracaena).
This genus was created by the naturalist Carl Von Linné (1707-1778) in 1767 in Systema Naturae ed.12, 2:2461, and classified among Hexandria (with 6 free and equal stamens) Monogynia (1 pistil).
Linnaeus had at the time identified 6 species of Dracaena with Dracaena draco as the type species.
Currently, The Plant List lists 372 taxa of this genus including many synonyms.
