Bird's tongue (chilli): The bird's tongue chilli also called pili-pili chilli is a strong enough chilli to be used sparingly (family Solanaceae – Botanical name: Capsicum frutescens).
Introduced to the island of Cayenne in 1493 from Haiti, this pepper bears the nickname "zozio" in Creole, hence its name bird's tongue pepper. Measuring the strength of the peppers, Scoville scale, it is rated at a degree 8, slightly hotter than cayenne pepper.
