Impregnate: v. tr. (word coming from the Latin imprægnare (from prægnas “pregnant”), the verb of the same origin to impreign (“to fertilize”; “to penetrate [heat…]” being confused with to imprint).
The verb “to impregnate” has several meanings:
1. To penetrate (a body) of liquid in all its parts (soak, soak).
