Snail: The term snail is a vernacular name which in French designates herbivorous gastropods (or phytophagous), with a spiral shell enlarging with age (Helicidae family - Scientific name: Helix pomatia) Snails are generally terrestrial and are called also snails, as opposed to slugs.
