Cagouille: The cagouille (controversial etymology, perhaps from the Latin conchylium "shell") is the name of the snail in certain regions of France (South and West).
Also known as squirrel (scientific name: Helix aspersa aspersa) which is a snail with a brownish, chagrined shell.
