Carnation Oil : Poppyseed oil or poppy seed oil poppy, is extracted from a botanical variety of opium poppy (Papaver somniferum) called poppy: Papaver somniferum var. nigrum, which is also referred to as black poppy or Blue poppy. Its cultivation is authorized unlike that of the album variety, or white poppy, which provides opium2.
There are different qualities of poppyseed oil:
– the white oil obtained after a first cold pressing or by low heating. This oil is very lightly colored, has an almond smell and is reserved for food use.
– oil from the second hot pressing called “poppy oil” is used for painting, because it is very drying.
Its density is about 0.92 at room temperature. It solidifies at around −18°C.
It is soluble, in all proportions, in ether and turpentine. Ethanol dissolves about three times its weight when cold, and fifteen times at its boiling temperature.
Uses of poppyseed oil: This oil is mainly used as a seasoning.
It was introduced into intensive cultivation in Germany and France at the end of the XNUMXth century for the production of oil.
