Rafute (Japanese cuisine): Rafute (ラ フ テ ー) is an Okinawan dish made from pork belly, where the meat is stewed with awamori, soy sauce and brown sugar. It was originally a dish served at the court of the kingdom of Ryūkyū (*).
This dish was introduced to Hawaii at the beginning of the XNUMXth century by Okinawaiian immigrants, where it is called "shōyu pork" (shōyu meaning soy sauce in Japanese).
