Meniscus: nm (word coming from the Greek meniskos which means crescent). The meniscus (or disc in oenology) is the thin layer which is the surface of the wine in contact with the air in a glass. This layer is created by capillary phenomena. Thus, if the color of a wine indicates its color, the meniscus or the disc is its reflection.
