Parthenocarpy: nf Parthenocarpy (from the Greek "virgin seed") is the production of fruit without egg fertilization.
The fruit develops as if the flower had been fertilized, but the fruits thus produced (banana, clementine, ...) do not contain seeds or the seeds do not contain embryos. Under these conditions, only vegetative propagation allows the plant to reproduce.
