Mesocarp: nm The mesocarp is the intermediate part of the fruit commonly called the pulp when it comes to fleshy fruits.
It derives from the transformation of the parenchyma of the wall of the ovary.
In the particular case of citrus fruits, the outer part of the mesocarp, white and spongy, is called albedo.
