Menispermaceae: The Menispermaceae (word coming from the botanical Latin “moon seed family” from the Greek mene “crescent moon” and sperma “seed”) is a family of flowering plants.
This family contains a wide range of benzylisoquinoline compounds (alkaloids), including the alkaloid tubocurarine, a neuromuscular blocker and the active ingredient in the "curare" form that used as a dart poison, is derived from the South American vine Chondrodendron tomentosum.
