Emmenagogue: adj. and N. masc. (word coming from the Greek engmena “menses” and agogos “that attracts”). In medicine, said of what promotes the menstrual cycle.
The name applies especially to certain plants which have the virtue of inducing menstruation. Mugwort, tansy and saffron (crocus pistils) are emmenagogues....
