Hydne: Hydnes form a genus of basidiomycete fungi in the Hydnaceae family, called scaly. Botanical name: Sarcodon imbricatus.
Their name is taken from the Greek ûdnon, "tuber" in reference to the bumpy appearance of the type species Hydnum repandum but their main characteristic is a hymenium made up not of blades or pores but of prickles.
