Papette: The term “papette” (sometimes spelled papète, or in the masculine form papet), is an old Burgundian and French dialect word designating a thick porridge or soup.
In these aforementioned regions, we also say pepet.
It is still used regionally in the following expressions:
- Papette, in French-speaking Switzerland, means food that is too thick;
- By extension, “palette”, in French-speaking Switzerland, designates mud or snow that has become thick and wet;
