Imbibe: v.tr. In pastry, "Imbiber" means wetting certain cakes with a syrup, alcohol or liqueur to make them soft and flavor them (sponge cake, baba, biscuit with a spoon, Brazilian pavement, plum-pudding, savarin, Italian tiramisu).
Also called "syrup".
