Saccharomyces pastorianus: Saccharomyces pastorianus is a species of yeast used for the production of Lager-type or bottom-fermented beer. The specific epithet pastorianus was given by the German Max Rees in honor of Louis Pasteur in 1870. Thirteen years later another specific epithet, carlsbergensis, was given to him by Emil Christian Hansen in 1883 when he was working for the Carlsberg brewery.
