Iron hydroxide: Iron hydroxides are chemical compounds combining iron cations (ferrous or ferrica) with hydroxide anions OH−.
They can also contain the oxide anion O2−.
Examples:
- iron(II) hydroxide, Fe(OH)2, green in color;
- anhydrous iron(III) oxyhydroxide, FeO(OH), red-brown in color; it is present in nature, in the form of the minerals goethite and lepidocrocite;
- iron(III) hydroxide monohydrate, Fe(OH)3, dark brown in color....
