Single barrel: Single barrel whiskey is a whiskey from a single numbered cask, usually indicated on the bottle label to ensure its traceability. The advantage of this type of bottling is that it gives the consumer the product as it comes out of the barrel, without reduction or cold filtration, a privilege usually reserved for the cellar master alone.
In Scotland, we rather speak of single cask (cask meaning cask in Scottish).
