Subsist: v.intr. (word coming from the Latin subsist “to stop; to stay”).
The verb "subsist" has several meanings:
1. Things: To continue to exist, after elimination of the other elements, or in spite of time (to be preserved, to remain, to last, to be maintained, to persist, to remain, to survive).
This tradition lives on in the North.
Memories that remain despite time (to float).
Impersonal: Only ruins remain.
