Saturated fatty acid: A saturated fatty acid is a fatty acid having carbon atoms fully saturated with hydrogen. Each carbon carries the maximum possible hydrogen. We cannot add hydrogen to the molecule: it is saturated.
All bonds between carbons are single (no carbon-to-carbon double bonds).
Saturated fats, a type of lipid, are triglycerides obtained by reacting three molecules of saturated fatty acids with one molecule of glycerol.
