The verb “to propose” has many meanings:
I) Transitive verb:
1. Sens littéraire : Proposer (quelque chose) à : mettre devant (le regard, la perception) (montrer, présenter).
To propose something, to the admiration, to the respect of all.
2. Ordinary meaning: To make known to someone, to submit to his choice, to his adhesion, leaving the freedom of rejection.

4. Asking someone to accept (what we want to give him, what we want to do for him).

III) Pronominal verb to propose
1. To set as a goal, to have as an object; have in mind, in view.
To propose to…: to have the intention, to form the project of (thinking, planning).
They offered to come.
2. Offer their services, apply for a job, office, etc. ; line up for a competition.
He offered to keep the cat (offer himself).
She offered herself for this position (introduce herself).
