To peel: v.tr. To "peel" is to rid fruits and vegetables of their inedible parts.
Peeling is not always synonymous with peeling: the lettuce is peeled (but without discarding the ribs, which are very edible), spinach, cabbage and radishes by removing the stems, roots, ribs, withered leaves.
