Oct-1-en-3-ol: Oct-1-en-3-ol, more often referred to as octenol (not to be confused with octanol*) or or mushroom alcohol because it is one of the main aromatic components of mushrooms, is a molecule that attracts certain biting insects (mosquitoes, especially in combination with CO26). It is a secondary alcohol derived from oct-1-ene. It exists as two enantiomers (2), (R)-(-)-oct-1-en-3-ol and (S)-(+)-oct-1-en-3-ol.
