Joule: nm A joule is the official international unit of measurement (since 1980) of energy. The kilojoule (kJ) replaces, in theory, the large calorie (Cal) or kilocalorie (Kcal) [1 kJ = 0,24 Kcal, or 239 calories], but, in practice, we find the two units on the labels, the kilocalorie being the most used.
