Skin: v.tr. To “skin” (word coming from cortex “envelope, bark”) is to strip an animal of its skin (to skin a rabbit or a hare). In fishmongers, a long fish (eel, conger, etc.) is also skinned by making an incision around its head, then pulling on the skin up to the tail. We also say "to strip"....
