Calcium oxalate: Calcium oxalate is a water-insoluble ionic crystal with the formula Ca(COO)₂ or CaC₂O₄, composed of a calcium ion Ca²⁺ and an oxalate ion ⁻OOC-COO⁻, derived oxalic acid. 70-80% of the contents of most kidney stones are composed of calcium oxalate dihydrate or monohydrate.
