Alloxan: Alloxan or mesoxalylurea is an organic compound based on a heterocyclic pyrimidine skeleton.
The compound having a strong affinity for water, it exists mainly in the state of monohydrate which crystallizes in colorless prisms. Alloxan also exists in the tetrahydrate form and then crystallizes in the orthorhombic form.
