The word “initiation” has several meanings:
1. Action to initiate.
Admission to the mysteries (mystagogy).
Initiation into the mysteries of Eleusis (*).
By extension: Admission to a religion, a cult, to a secret society, to a particular social state (affiliation, introduction).
Masonic initiation.
Initiation ceremony (initiation; passage).
