Its molecular formula is C18H30O2 and its molar mass 278,43 g mol-1. It is a carboxylic acid with a chain of 18 carbon atoms and three cis double bonds; the first of the double bonds is positioned on the third carbon atom counted from the end of the chain, denoted ω.
