Romanesco (cabbage): Romanesco cabbage is a variety of cauliflower native to Italy and more specifically Rome. It is also called "apple broccoli". It is from the Brassicaceae family (botanical name: Brassica oleracea var. Botrytis L. Plenck, 1794).
Although it is an old variety, its marketing became widespread from 1993 on the fresh market, then through freezing. However, its economic importance remains very limited.
