Lentil: The lentil (or cultivated lentil or edible lentil) is a species of dicotyledonous plants belonging to the Fabaceae family (Botanical name: Lens culinaris).
This annual plant is widely cultivated for its edible protein-rich seeds.
The fruits are pods containing two flattened round seeds. Lentils are one of the dried vegetables appreciated in Europe even if world production is low: 2 tonnes per year.
