Echinochloa: “Echinochloa” is the name of a genus of Poaceae, which notably includes certain species cultivated for their grain (millet) or as fodder. The best known are Echinochloa esculenta (Japanese barnyard millet) in East Asia, Echinochloa frumentacea (Barnyard grass or Japanese millet) in South Asia and Echinochloa stagnina (Niger barnyard grass or borgou) in West Africa .
