Demerara: Demerara sugar is a variety of unrefined brown cane sugar from plantations in Mauritius (Indian Ocean).
This sugar is a type of blond brown sugar with large crystals coated with a thicker layer of molasses. Its crystals are golden and crunchy, perfect for giving texture to Streusel and crunch to fruit. It is also delicious in coffee and tea.
