Roman bean: Roman beans (in Italian fagiolo romano) (Fabaceae family - Botanical name: Phaseolus vulgaris) are related to the red kidney bean. They look like the pinto bean but of opposite colors, pink skin spotted with brown. They are slightly larger than the pinto and are about 1/2 inch tall.
They have a mild, aromatic flavor.
