Mâcher : v.tr. (againstfrom du latin impérial masticar).
« Mâcher », c’est broyer, écraser avec les dents, par le mouvement des mâchoires, avant d'avaler (ou déglutir).
Mâcher du pain, de la viande.
On dit aussi mastiquer.
Remâcher, c'est mâcher de nouveau. Les ruminants remâche l'herbe ingérée.
