The word “half moon” has several meanings:
1. Space in the shape of a semicircle in front of a building, an entrance, at a crossroads.
2. In the plural: Glasses equipped with very narrow lenses leaving the upper field of vision free.
3. Invariable adjective: Semi-circular (furniture).

4. Fortification: Outer structure, formerly semi-circular, now triangular.
