Zurek (Polish cuisine): żurek (pronounced "jourek") is a sour soup of Polish origin, a kind of white borscht made from fermented rye flour, cumin, various vegetables (carrots, parsley, celery), in which is added at the end of cooking smoked bacon or hard-boiled eggs cut in half. It is often presented and served in a hollowed-out loaf of rye bread.
