It is made from minced pork (or more rarely water buffalo) boiled in its blood, with coconut milk and spices (combawa, Indonesian bay leaf, coriander, shallot, garlic, chili and Thai pepper, lemongrass , ginger, galangal, turmeric and andaliman).
Saksang is an important dish for the Bataks (*), and is especially a wedding dish.
