Masa podrida (Filipino cuisine): Masa podrida are traditional Filipino round shortbread cookies made with flour, salt, baking powder, brown sugar, shortbening (vegetable or animal fat) and eggs. They have a crumbly, dry texture similar to half-moon cookies. The name comes from the Spanish for "rotten dough".
Masa podrida are usually eaten with coffee and other hot drinks, such as sikwate (Filipino hot chocolate).
