Caruru (Brazilian cuisine): Caruru is a Brazilian dish made with okra, pepper, onion, shrimp, palm oil and roasted nuts (peanuts and/or cashews). It is a typical condiment in the northeastern state of Bahia, where it is usually eaten with acarajé, an Afro-Brazilian street food made from mashed small black-eyed beans made into a ball, then fried in palm oil.
