Lane Cake (American Cuisine) : The Lane cake, also known as cake Prize or Alabama Lane Cake, is a cake cooked au bourbon traditional in the south of United States of America. According to the specialistfood Neil Ravenna, the inventor was Emma Rylander Lane, of Clayton, in Alabama, who won first prize with it at the Columbus County, riding a Georgia. She called it "Prize Cake" when she self-published a cooking book entitled “Some Good Things to Eat in 1898”.
